Service of process is when legal documents such as summonses, complaints, subpoenas, writs and other court documents are delivered to a person who is required to respond to them.
In the case of the university, specific offices have been designated to receive such legal documents.
Note: If you or your department is served with a subpoena, court order, or other legal summons for university records, don't accept the subpoena or legal instrument, but direct the individual seeking to serve the documents to the Office of Legal Affairs in located at:
767 E. Yosemite Avenue, Suite C
Merced, CA 95340
**PLEASE CONTACT ANGELA COUNTS AT (209) 349-1568 OR firstname.lastname@example.org IF YOU NEED TO SERVE DOCUMENTS DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC**
Note that the university does not accept service of documents on our staff and students in matters unrelated to university business.
